2nds, 3rds & 4ths Semi Final wrap

In contrast to the Firsts Semis, there were some thrilling matches in the lower grades today. And some sensational individual performances.

  • Prahran paceman Leigh Alford wrecked Uni's hopes in the Seconds with the wonderful figures of 8/27 off 15.4 overs.
  • Also in the Seconds, Camberwell Magpies successfully chased down the Demons' 8/278 declared. Glen Parker (73no), Justin Lampard (61) and Michael McClean (54) were the Magpies' heroes.
  • Another terrific run-chase in the Fourths, with Melbourne Uni overhauling Melbourne's 294. Ahilan Sivakumaran (141no) and Leigh Weeks (58no) were the Students' stars in an unbroken 135-run fifth wicket stand.
  • Ringwood lost thrillers in both the Thirds and the Fourths, to Melbourne and Camberwell Magpies respectively. Chasing Melbourne's 221 in the Thirds, the Rams fell ten short of victory. In pursuit of the Magpies' 6/301 in the Fourths, Ringwood, after being 5/288, lost their last five wickets for 9 runs to be rolled for 297.

Next weekend's Finals will be as follows:
1sts    Melbourne v Ringwood at St Kilda
2nds    Prahran v Camb Magpies at Camberwell
